Kyoto and Hiroshima

It's been a busy few days! We finished up in Kyoto with a visit to an incredible palace, then on our way to Hiroshima visited a castle in Himeji. Then we went to the Peace Park in Hiroshima, dedicated to the memory of the victims of the atomic bombing that happened here and to building peace in the world...incredible! Then today we went to an island called Okunoshima. This island has literally thousands of rabbits roaming wild. They come up to you and you can feed them!

Questions for today:

1. How old is Himeji castle?

2. There is a famous woman of Japanese history who lived at Himeji. Who was she and tell me one thing that she is known for doing?

3. What is special about the building called the "A-Bomb Dome"?

4. Why do many people from around the world send origami cranes to Hiroshima?
